When You Don’t Know What God Is Doing, Keep Going Anyway.

There are seasons in life when nothing seems to make sense.

You pray. You wait. You try to do the right thing. You tell yourself to trust God, but if you’re being truthful, you still have questions.

What is happening?

Why is this taking so long?

Did I miss something?

God, where are You in all of this?

I think sometimes we believe faith means never having questions. But I’ve learned that faith isn’t always about understanding what God is doing. Sometimes faith is simply deciding to keep going when you don’t understand at all.

There have been times in my life when I could clearly see where I was headed. And then there have been other times when I couldn’t see two steps in front of me.

Those are the difficult seasons.

Because we like answers.

We like plans.

We like knowing that if we do A, B, and C, eventually we’ll arrive at D.

But life doesn’t always work that way.

You May Not See It Yet

Some things only make sense when you look backward.

The door that closed.

The relationship that ended.

The opportunity you thought you needed.

The season that forced you to start over.

At the time, it may have felt like everything was falling apart. Later, you realize some of those things were actually redirecting you.

That’s why I’ve learned not to judge my entire journey by what I can see today.

Today is only one page.

God can see the whole story.

Keep Moving, Even If the Steps Are Small

Trusting God doesn't mean sitting still and waiting for everything to magically fall into place.

Sometimes trusting God looks like getting up tomorrow morning and trying again.

Making the phone call.

Submitting the application.

Starting the business.

Writing the first page.

Walking away from something you know is no longer good for you.

Resting when you need to rest.

Beginning again when you thought you were too old, too tired, too disappointed, or too far behind.

You don't have to know exactly where every step will lead.

You just have to be willing to take the next one.

Faith Doesn't Always Feel Fearless

There are days when you can believe God and still be nervous.

You can trust Him and still wonder how things are going to work out.

You can have faith and still have moments when you say, “Lord, I need a little help with this one.”

That doesn't mean your faith has disappeared.

It means you're human.

The important thing is not allowing uncertainty to convince you to stop.

Maybe This Season Isn't the End of the Story

If things aren't happening the way you expected, don't automatically assume they're going wrong.

Your timeline isn't the only timeline.

Your plan isn't the only plan.

And what feels like a delay may be preparing you for something you aren't ready to see yet.

So if you're in one of those seasons right now, keep going.

Pray.

Listen.

Rest when you need to.

Change direction when wisdom tells you to.

But don't give up simply because you can't see the whole road.

Sometimes you don't need the entire map.

Sometimes you just need enough faith for the next step.

And then tomorrow?

You take another one.

Keep going anyway.
